Lauren and I have come to recognize that the majority of the problems people have “eating healthy” is that they focus on the numbers too often.
It’s not that the number of calories doesn’t matter. It does. The problem is that when you focus on only the calories, you forget about the other important parts of eating healthy.
- What nutrients are in these foods?
- How will my body feel after eating them?
- How will my body feel 5 hours after eating them?
- How full will they make me?
- Will they give me more cravings?
You see, being healthy is not just a lose sum numbers game where the big winner eats the fewest calories and thus loses the most weight.
This completely ignores the fact that the higher quality of food you consume, the lower the quantity of food your body feels the need to consume.
It’s the person who can get the most nutrient dense foods in and still remain within a certain calorie range who will lose weight.
That’s exactly why we wrote this article.
If you focus on consuming more of these foods and less on the never ending race to ZERO calories, you’ll notice a few things:
- Natural weight loss
- Increased energy
- Vibrant, healthy skin
- Better mood
- Better outlook on “dieting” and less compulsive counting
These all make the dieting process much simpler.
Also, when looking for foods that help you lose weight fast, there are 3 rules you want to follow.
- Eat foods that have lots of fiber. The reason is that these foods are some of the most filing.
- Eat foods that are high in protein. These foods are also much more filling than other foods.
- Avoid carbs, and eat more fats. Now, you should never stop eating carbohydrates, but they will slow your weight loss progress (especially in the beginning of any diet regimen). Instead, focus on consuming lots of high quality fats.
Implement these foods into your life on an almost daily basis, and you will notice big changes in how you look and feel almost immediately.
10 Delicious Foods That Help You Lose Weight Fast
1. Low carb veggies, DONE RIGHT
Everyone knows to eat more vegetables. The problem is that veggies don’t taste very good on their own.
Well, not anymore!
The secret is simple: Cook the veggies, and add seasonings to them. 🙂
When you cook veggies in a high quality oil such as extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil, the taste dramatically increases.
Do this, and add in a light amount of salt for a healthy and delicious snack.
Don’t worry about losing nutrients in the cooking process or anything like that. The fact that you will be getting in regular sources of vegetables far outweighs the minimal amount of nutrients lost in the cooking process.
2. Soaked Oats
As stated before, if your goal is FAST weight loss, you want to be easy on the carbohydrates in the beginning of any weight loss plan.
However, this food absolutely deserved a place on this list, because it’s high in fiber and will help prevent energy crashes throughout the day.
Soak the oats in unsweetened cashew and almond milk, add in a little cinnamon for flavor, and voilà! You have a healthy low calorie energy boost and great source of carbohydrates.
Lauren and I recommend using this only after you have done a low carbohydrate detox and reset your insulin levels.
The third food on the delicious foods that help you lose weight is probably one of the greatest foods on the planet for high quality fats, fiber, folic acid, and taste (and the inspiration for our website name).
Avocados are equally healthy as they are delicious.
They are one of the few high fat-fruits that are loaded with fiber to help you feel full and satiated after your meals.
You can eat them alongside almost any breakfast item, throw them in a smoothie, or make fresh guacamole.

However, most people are under the impression that chicken is always bland and boring. Not so.
A lean chicken breast seasoned with cajun seasoning, turmeric, and black pepper makes for a delicious meal that will also help you lose weight.
5. High-Quality, Low Carbohydrate Whey Protein Shakes
Whey protein shakes are an AMAZING solution for those times when you don’t have enough time to cook and need a healthy meal fast.

Some people love green apples and others, like myself, love Fuji. Find the kind that you think is delicious, and eat them daily.
Don’t worry about the type, because they will all have very similar nutrient profiles.
#7 on the list of delicious foods that help you lose weight naturally is the almighty soup!
Soups are amazing, because they can be cooked in large quantities, and it’s so hard to go wrong.
In a good soup recipe, you’ll get in lots of veggies for fiber, protein, and water. These 3 things are the ultimate punch in the category of weight loss foods.
You can bring them to work, and heat them up for lunch as well. The leftovers can also be easily frozen. The one thing you want to watch out for is store-bought soup, because they usually contain cheese, carbs, and lots of sodium.

Salmon is amazing for weight loss because of its protein content and high quality fats that enhance blood flow.
Omega 3 fats from fish oils are actually one of the most studied and well-researched nutrients for the human body (examine.com studies)
The key to using salmon for weight loss is proper meal pairing.
Salmon with rice that is covered in a sugary sauce is not a weight loss friendly food. However, a salmon salad or cedar plank salmon served with lots of asparagus is!
Just be careful what you’re pairing your salmon with to get the best benefits. 🙂
9. Organic Lean Beef (more yummy spices)
Red meat has come under quite a bit of criticism as of late, and much of it is misplaced. Red meat is bad for you ONLY when the quality of the meat is bad.

Lean beef has some of the highest quality proteins and fats you will find in almost any protein source.
Here are the rules through: If organic is not something you can afford, then stick to other protein sources instead.
10. Vegetable Chili
This works well for many of the same reasons as adding soup into your diet.
It makes eating vegetables tasty, has lots of water, and you can add in all sorts of spices like cayenne and turmeric to make it that much healthier.
