Or maybe you are looking for stress relief, and a way to reduce the soreness in your muscles and joints.
If you had told me a blanket could give you all this and more a few months ago, I likely would not have believed you.
But, these are just some of the benefits you could receive by using the Infrared Sauna Blanket by Sun Home Saunas. If this has you intrigued, keep reading!
What is the Infrared Sauna Blanket by Sun Home Saunas?
The Sun Home Saunas Infrared Sauna Blanket is a high-quality premium wellness tool designed with both features and quality in mind.
The blanket uses infrared heat to penetrate the body with a dry heat more deeply than traditional saunas.
The temperature can be adjusted to your desired level, making it perfect for people of all ages and fitness levels.
The blanket also comes with an automatic shut off feature that prevents the risk of overheating. But more on the blanket in a moment.
Why would anyone want a sauna in the first place?
What are the benefits of using a sauna?
Anyone who’s ever taken a hot bath or soaked in a spa tub knows that the benefits of a sauna range from relaxation to detoxification.
But what are the specific health benefits of saunas? Here are just a handful of them:
- Sauna use can help improve circulation and decrease cholesterol.
- The high temperatures can also trigger the release of endorphins, which may reduce stress and anxiety.
- Saunas can help break down fat cells, helping to reduce cellulite and unwanted body weight.
- WebMD reported infrared saunas resulted in improved lung health, improvement in asthma symptoms, and a lower risk of pneumonia.
- Reuters also reported, sauna usages results in the “reduction in the risk of vascular diseases such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease (CVD), stroke and memory diseases.”
So, you may be wondering – how can a blanket give you all the benefits of a traditional sauna?
How the Infrared Sauna Blanket Works
The infrared sauna blanket is a unique device that uses penetrating infrared heat technology to detox the body of harmful pollutants and rejuvenate your skin while alleviating stress, burning calories, and delivering that tranquil sauna sensation.
The blanket is more than a heated blanket. It’s made with premium non-toxic fabrics (both interior and exterior), and emits heat in a similar fashion that a traditional sauna would.
Unlike a traditional sauna, however, you won’t need a large space to build out a specialized room, and the blanket can travel with you.
Can a Blanket Really Help You Lose Weight?
In full transparency, the jury is still out on this, as I’m not personally using it for the weight loss benefits alone. The product feature page does state it can help you burn up to 600 calories per hour, though.
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the benefits of using heat to reduce weight. I also found this article from the Mayo Clinic that indicated using a sauna can “cause reactions similar to those elicited by moderate exercise, such as vigorous sweating and increased heart rate.”
While it is still unclear whether this form of weight loss is sustainable, there are several reasons why using heat could be beneficial to your health. For starters, since it reduces stiffness in the joints and the spasm of muscles, your muscles won’t be as tight while you’re working out. As a result, you will be less likely to skip your trips to the gym.
Is an Infrared Sauna Blanket Right for You?
In my humble opinion, an infrared sauna blanket seems to come with more benefits than negatives. Still, that’s not to say there are no risks. If you are prone to heat related illnesses, or can’t handle high temperatures, the blanket might not be a good idea. And, as with any device intended for medical use, I recommend you seek the advice of your general practitioner.
On the other hand, I’ve not had any negative experiences with the blanket, and I rather like the fact that the blanket has built-in safety mechanisms to prevent overheating and/or fire hazards.
If you are going to try the infrared sauna blanket I would strongly recommend reading the guide that comes with it, and adhere to the recommendations of how to use it.
For example, it’s recommended you wear cotton-based clothing while inside the blanket. It’s also recommended that you wipe it down with an anti-bacterial wipe between uses to avoid the risk of bacterial growth that can make you sick.
