These spoonful hack tricks will help you not only lose weight, but also keep the body healthy and strong!
13 “One Spoonful” Tricks for Weight Loss
1. A Spoonful of Cumin Powder for 3x the Weight Loss
A study done by the University of Medical Sciences in Iran came across a fascinating result from a weight loss group of 88 women. Two groups were placed in the exact same weight loss routine (caloric deficit and exercise) with one exception.
One group was eating 3 grams of cumin powder (approx. one teaspoon), and the other was not.
The group eating cumin reported a 14.64% reduction in body fat, while the ones who didn’t only lost 4.91%. That’s 3x greater body fat lost.
This is supposedly due to cumin increasing metabolic rate and the high amounts of healthy phytosterols.
Add one spoonful to your favorite veggie recipe and enjoy!
2. A Spoonful of Dark Cacao Powder for Antioxidants
Got chocolate cravings? Girl, I hear you!
Dark cacao powder not only packs in a ton of antioxidants and health nutrients, but it will also help with that chocolate sweet tooth. It also lacks in the sugar added to regular milk chocolate, which is excellent!
Add one spoonful to your healthy green smoothies or into some hot water for a healthy version of hot chocolate!
3. A Spoonful of Ginger for Improved Metabolism & Digestion
Ginger has quite a few scientifically proven health benefits:
- Fighting against nausea
- Reducing muscle pain and soreness after workouts
- Lowers blood sugar naturally
- Can treat indigestion
- Possible cancer prevention
- Fights against Alzheimer’s
- Fights infections
On top of all of these listed above, it has also been shown to improve metabolism and digestion.
Add ginger to a health detox tea or to some soup or chili.
4. A Spoonful of Coconut Oil to Burn More Fat
Coconut oil is one of the best superfoods around for not only general health but for weight loss as well.
One study found that 15-30 grams of MCTs per day increased 24-hour energy expenditure by 5%, totaling about 130 calories per day (7).
Also, In a study of 40 women with abdominal obesity, supplementing with 30 mL (1 ounce) of coconut oil per day led to a significant reduction in both BMI and waist circumference in a period of 12 weeks (19).

5. A Spoonful of Apple Cider Vinegar for Craving Control
Apple cider vinegar is one of the most useful little drinks you can add to your weight loss diet. Its ability to stop weight gain is three-fold:
It’s a natural appetite suppressant. Studies published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition revealed that people that consumed apple cider vinegar with a meal felt almost 2x as full as those who ate the meals without it.
Helps prevent fat accumulation. Because apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, it helps the body stop storing fat.
Keep blood sugar level. Apple cider vinegar helps prevent the crazy blood sugar spikes many people experience after eating a large meal. This is great because keeping blood sugar level helps to stop binge eating and stops high insulin spikes after eating, which can cause fat storage.

Add 1-2 tablespoons to 8oz of water, and drink!
6. A Spoonful of Lemon Juice for Vitamin C and Healthy Habits
Drinking a glass of warm lemon water in the mornings is one the best things you can do to start your day. Why?
Because it’s one of the easier healthy habits to establish. Getting healthy and losing weight is about establishing healthy, long-term habits, and this one is super easy to get started with.
It also happens to be amazing for your skin, boost the immune system, hydrate the body, and has even been shown to boost brain function.
Add 1 tablespoon of fresh squeeze lemon into 8oz of water.
7. A Spoonful of Fish Oil for Better Blood Flow and Overall Health
Fish oil is one of the most well-researched supplements in the world and for a good reason. The list of health benefits are numerous:
- Reduces Inflammation
- Has Shown to Help with Cancer
- Thickens Hair
- Glowing Skin
- Better Heart Health
- Improved Digestion
- Reduces Joint Pain
But for weight loss? A study performed by French researchers put two separate groups of women through a normal weight loss protocol with one difference.
One group supplemented with 1.8 grams of fish oil, and the other did not. After two months, the group that had supplemented with fish oil saw a much greater reduction is belly fat than the others taking a placebo.
Try your best to get in 1000mg, or eat more fish like wild salmon, cod, halibut, and tuna!

8. A Spoonful Matcha Green Tea Powder for Fat Burning
Did you know… “One serving of matcha green tea has the nutritional benefits of 10 cups of green tea.”
Most people know how good green tea is for the body, but many people are still in the dark about matcha powder!
This is a unique tea grown in the hills of Japan. The reason the leaves are such a beautiful bright green color is because they control the amount of light given to the plants causing them to produce more chlorophyll.
A study featured in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition demonstrated that green tea powder increased thermogenesis (the body’s rate of burning calories) from 8-10% to 35-43% of daily energy expenditure.
So add a spoonful to some warm water and drink up!

9. A Spoonful of Cayenne Pepper for Increased Metabolism
While spicy food is not for everyone, cayenne pepper contains a nutrient called capsaicin, which is uniquely powerful for fat burning in the body. This is because it has two powerful combined effects:
First, it increases the body’s metabolism by heating up the body.
Secondly, it actually has been shown to stop cravings in their tracks.
So throw a little Sriracha or cayenne pepper on any food, and it will naturally help suppress the appetite.
10. A Spoonful of Cinnamon for Better Blood Sugar Levels
Not only is this spice tasty, but it can also help you lose weight! Cinnamon contains minerals and nutrients the body desperately needs and has a powerful effect of regulating blood sugar levels.
