While those are great and can help with weight loss goals, they are not the SECRET to keeping you motivated. They don’t truly help in the long-term when eating decisions become harder.

Glad you asked… It may be a surprise, but here it is:
Without a doubt, there is no single influence greater than peer pressure (or community influence) on a person’s success losing weight or pretty much achieving ANYTHING.
It’s why people post crossfit workouts on Facebook.
It’s why a nice kid can get caught up in drugs because friends pressured them.
It’s, sadly, why terrorists blow up groups of people all in the name of religion.
It’s also why groups of people are more successful than individuals at reaching goals.
Community and peer influence are waaaaayyyyyyyyyy more powerful than most people give them credit for.
And very undervalued in today’s society. The people you surround yourself with are a better indicator of weight loss success than having a particular plan or program that is “perfect” for you.
But my community sucks…
While many people have heard “you are the sum of the 5 people you hang out with the most,” it’s not always optional who you hang around. Family members and coworkers are usually people you spend LOADS of time with, but you don’t really get to choose them.

“So today is day 8 for me, meaning I am officially done with week 1. I am SO excited to share that I have lost 9.2lbs. I am feeling great and very encouraged by the progress I am making. “Day 11 over here! Down about 8lbs!! I’ve had a few unapproved moments lol but instead of letting that cause everything fall apart (which is what I usually do and then just binge) I’ve just moved on and treated each day and each meal as its own! First week was tough- I never wanted to see another veggie lol – but once you’re detoxed the cravings are gone and you feel great! I already know I have a dairy allergy and have gluten sensitivity and since starting this I have felt the best I have in years! No tummy issues, bloating or gas – it’s great!! That doesn’t mean I miss certain things but since I’m actually seeing results for the first time (and I’ve tried literally everything) I’m in the mind set that my goal is more important than however good that bite may taste!
Personal achievement – have to go exchange the dress I bought 2 weeks ago for my engagement picture for a smaller size!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!”

“So, I completed the 21 day challenge. I lost 14.8 lbs. I really do think I have changed my eating patterns. I have 24 more pounds to go. I am not going to go crazy, but I am going to take two days off before starting again. The last week was definitely the hardest week for me. I was feeling really weak and tired. I doubt that is how I should feel but I have a hypothyroid problem and a lot of the time I become so tired. So I am attributing it to that and not diet. When I get so tired I tend to eat thinking it will give me energy and so this cycle of terrible weight gain has happened. Thank you to Lauren and Alex for all your encouragement. I love your website and you both have been so helpful through the struggle. I had lost hope that I could lose weight, but now I know I can!!!”

I’m still in shock! I don’t even want to massively cheat all day tomorrow as I was planning to (although french fries and caramel frappuccino are both happening.
